End of the Rainbow Felt Charm

Could you use a lucky charm this St. Patrick's Day? How about finding something super cute at the end of the rainbow? Maybe you could accomplish both with this quick felt craft.

I designed this to be a flexible sort of project. Use the felt charm to make a pin, a hair clip, an ornament, a necklace, a headband, a magnet...you get the idea! Just attach it to the accessory or fitting of your choice, and you're all set.

You will need:

Green felt
Rainbow ribbon (I found mine at Hobby Lobby)
Black embroidery floss
Craft glue
Pin back, hair clip, or other fitting

Cut out two pot of gold shapes from green felt. Cut two 4-inch pieces of rainbow ribbon. Cut the ribbon with pinking shears or heat the ends to seal them.

Embroider the face on one of the felt pieces. I used all six strands of floss, and stitched the eyes with french knots and the mouth with a scallop stitch.

If you are attaching your charm to something that requires that you sew it on, now is the time to sew it on to the back felt piece. Many items can be glued on later.

Fold the two ribbon pieces in half at an angle and layer them as shown.

Place the folded ribbons between the tops of the felt pieces and glue the layers together. You will need to glue the ribbons together and glue the ribbons to the felt.

Enjoy a St. Patrick's Day with a bit of luck and this happy pot of gold at the end of the rainbow!
